This 1983 VW T3 Single Cab Transporter is part of the third generation of Volkswagen Transporter vans. We located this very fine example in Italy and imported it to the US recently. Overall condition when imported was remarkably good and we proceeded to improve it, touched up the exterior, installed new upholstery and performed a full service. This unique vehicle with the novel fold down side bed is ready to get to work.

Restoration began with a basically straight and sound body with the original paint in good condition, ready to be buffed up. Minor surface rust was addressed and a full detailing brought out a very presentable exterior. The VW rolls on attractive steel wheels fitted with full moon chrome hubcaps and a decent set of 175/70 R14 tires. The large flat bed features fold down panels on both sides and the rear.

Under the bed is a 1.9 liter, fuel injected, gasoline Wasserboxer motor which provides 83 HP and ample torque delivered thru a 4-speed manual transmission. Odometer shows 73K miles (117K Km), believed to be accurate. The engine has just received a full service and tune up and runs very smoothly. Overall mechanical condition is good, no known issues. Starts, runs, rides and handles well.

The single cab interior offers a full width dashboard and 1 + 2 seating. Seat upholstery is new, done in an attractive and durable tan vinyl. The original door cards are in good condition and a fitted rubber matt covers the floor.

The T3 series Single Cab Transporter is a very rare find and popular among enthusiasts and collectors for its classic design and practicality. Built in Hanover Germany and known for its robust construction and reliability, it has gained a reputation as a versatile workhorse.
