1999 Porsche 911 GT3 ClubSport [ECC-264]
This 1999 Porsche 911 GT3 Club Sport is a very rare first edition of a highly sought-after track-focused variant of the Porsche 996 generation. Designed as a homologation special for motorsport enthusiasts, it marked a significant milestone in Porsche's motorsport lineage, as the GT3 badge became synonymous with high-performance and track-ready 911s. This example comes from a Japanese collection and was never sold in the US. Very sharp and clean car with only 42k Miles, a well documented comprehensive service history and certified by Porsche as a GT3 Club Sport.
A total of 1838 GT3 MK1s were built, but only 500 received the exclusive Club Sport package. Uniquely these were assembled at the Weissach Porsche Motorsport factory, actually the only 911 road car with water engine to have been built there. Later GT3 cars were not limited editions and built at Zuffenhausen factory.
Overall condition is excellent and the true sporting character of the model provides a racy feel to the driving experience. This example features a few custom touches including an aftermarket adjustable rear wing, Advan Racing RS mags with 225/40 R18 Yokahama Advan tires and aftermarket front and rear bumper covers with billet tow rings. Engine and chassis are stock and in perfect working order. No issues, no problems, ready to enjoy supercar.
Inside, the Club Sport version is purpose built for the track. The standard 996 interior is stripped down, featuring lightweight bucket seats, a roll cage, and Alcantara trim. Interior features include lightweight fixed-back Recaro racing bucket seats, a factory-installed rear roll cage and a 6-point harness for driver. Deleted features include air conditioning, rear seats, soundproofing, and some luxury amenities to reduce weight. It is all business.
The GT3 Club Sport is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine derived from Porsche's race-proven Mezger design. It features titanium con rods and Variocam. Producing 360 horsepower at 7,200 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm, it delivers thrilling high-revving performance. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox from the 993 GT2 offering crisp and precise shifts. The GT3 Club Sport excels on the track, with sharp throttle response and a linear powerband that builds to a high redline. On the road, it feels alive and engaging, rewarding drivers who push it hard.
Built with track use as the focus the GT3 Club Sport features extensive chassis modifications compared to a standard 996 Carrera. These include lowered and stiffened suspension, adjustable coilovers, upgraded Brembo brakes. The Club Sport package sheds unnecessary weight through the removal of rear seats, soundproofing, and air conditioning optional. The steering is hydraulic, and noted for offering exceptional feedback.
The GT3 is incredibly agile, with balanced cornering dynamics and immense grip from its wide tires. The rear-wheel-drive layout, coupled with Porsche’s advanced suspension tuning, provides the capability for experienced drivers to exploit the car’s limits confidently. The tradeoff is that the GT3 Club Sport is not as forgiving or comfortable as a standard 911. The stiff suspension and stripped-back interior amplify road noise. For enthusiasts, this raw, visceral experience is part of the car's appeal. The direct connection to the road and unfiltered feedback make every drive memorable.
