This 1965 Volkswagen Beetle was acquired by the seller in 2015, reportedly from the first owner who had imported the car to the US from Germany in 1965. The car underwent a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment during current ownership that included removing the body from the frame, repainting the body in red, reupholstering the interior in gray, fitting a modified 2,275cc flat-four, and replacing the four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes Weber carburetors, an A-1 Sidewinder exhaust system, 15″ Fuchs-style wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a sunroof, chrome bumpers and trim, a Gene Berg shifter, and a RetroSound radio. This Beetle is now offered with a refurbishment photo book, service records, build receipts, import documents, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The body was removed from the frame in 2018 and body repairs were performed before it was repainted in its current shade of red. Exterior details include a left side mirror, a sunroof, running boards, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes the front and rear aprons have been replaced.

Fuchs-style 15″ wheels wear Porsche-crest center caps and 145-series Nankang CX668 tires up front and 205/70 Westlake Radial RP-18 tires out back. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with red-finished calipers and front drilled and slotted rotors.

The replacement bucket seats are upholstered in gray and feature Crow lap belts. The carpeting was replaced and the headliner was reupholstered during the refurbishment. Equipment includes a body-color dashboard, door panel pockets, a Gene Berg shifter, rear vent windows, cupholders, and a RetroSound radio.

A two-spoke steering wheel with a Wolfsburg crest and a chrome horn ring sits ahead of a 90-mph GPS speedometer, a fuel level gauge, and a tachometer mounted to the underside of the dashboard. The digital odometer shows 2,400 miles, of which approximately 1k were added during current ownership. True mileage is unknown.

The 2,275cc flat-four was sourced from Chico Performance Racing in California and was installed during current ownership. Features include Weber IDA 48mm carburetors, a Stealthanator 75-amp alternator, and a CB Performance crankshaft pulley.

A Pro Street Type 1 four-speed manual transaxle is said to have been fitted during current ownership and sends power to the rear wheels. The car is equipped with an A-1 Sidewinder exhaust system.
