An exceptional example of a very desirable Alfa Romeo, this remarkable car was discovered by our team in Italy. A family treasure, it had been in the process of a complete restoration when the scion of the family passed away. The car then became available and we oversaw completion of the restoration to our high standard.
This 1971 Alfa Romeo Berlina has 52,730 original kilometers (32,768 miles). The recently completed restoration covered all aspects and has resulted in a near concours level of finish. The rust-free body is now showroom straight with a deep, lustrous and stunning shade of dark blue. Chrome, grille and all exterior trim is in excellent condition. The interior has been completely reupholstered in authentic light blue velour including new seat covers and door panels as well as new carpeting. The unique dual cowl dashboard is in great shape, all the original wood veneer is in nice condition and interior trim bits all in place. The full complement of attractive Veglia instruments is operating correctly. A period correct Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette head unit is fitted to the dash.
Mechanically the car has been completely gone thru and refurbished and refitted as required, including the engine, cylinder head, cooling system, clutch, brakes and suspension. The mechanical rebuild was comprehensive and done to a professional standard. Shifts beautifully, clutch is smooth and tight. Overall running condition and operational character is outstanding. The cars starts, runs and drives like a classic Alfa should. This particular car also just received a thorough detailing and major tune up including new battery, all new fluids and filters.
The underside and chassis are very clean, rust free and in fine condition. The trunk features a full set of genuine Alfa Romeo rubber mats and the proper jack and tools.
Comes complete with original plates and documents. Truly impressive example of a very desireable model.
Arguably the most collectable of this Alfa Romeo series, the 1971 Berlina features the sensuous dual cowl dash layout and the sexy arrangement of 4 auxiliary gauges on the console. The Euro spec carburated version of the 1750 Alfa engine offers excellent mid range and a lively, free revving top end readily exploited by the slick 5-speed gearbox. Perfectly comfortable at modern freeway speeds and a true joy on the back roads.
